Winter Literacy Tutor Training Session Set to Begin

 

            Kent County, Rhode Island –   You can make a difference in someone’s life by giving the gift of literacy. By giving just a few hours per week, you can help develop a stronger community while helping your neighbors improve their skills. Literacy Volunteers of Kent County has adult students excited to learn English as a Second Language or Basic Literacy who are awaiting a tutor. The next tutor training session begins on Monday, January 23, 2012. If you are over 18 and a Kent County resident, please call 822-9103 or email lvkc@coventrylibrary.org for more information. You’ll have the fulfillment of knowing that you’re not only aiding individuals, but also building a stronger, more successful community.

Literacy Volunteers of Kent County(LVKC), with its office in the Coventry Library, has been serving the community for almost 30 years. We are a nationally accredited, non-profit adult literacy program that trains volunteer tutors to teach adult students(18 years+) Basic Reading Skills and English as a Second Language. We operate through grants and the generosity of donors, and volunteers. We are always looking for new tutors and students to become a part of our organization.

Kent County, Rhode Island- Learn to speak, read, and write English.  Enroll in Literacy Volunteers of Kent County's free learning program. In just a few hours per week you can improve your English skills in speaking, reading, and writing.
You will be paired with a tutor who will instruct you, one-on-one, according to your individual needs. Lessons are scheduled at your convenience. All information exchanged remains confidential.
