Junior Jaycees

The Junior Jaycee's program under the United States Junior Chamber is a program aimed toward todays children. It is an extension of the mission, goals and objectives of the USJC's for our youth to gain leadership skills within the community. These skills are gained through volunteering for community service projects, interacting with others and leading activities during regular meetings.

Within the Rhode Island Junior Chamber there are many opportunities for the Juniors to develop public speaking, communication and leadership skills. During JJC meetings, the participants interact in group discussion, engage in public speaking and brainstorming sessions to develop ideas for future projects. Some of the projects to date have been, learning about the various weather conditions that exist for snow coupled with making ice cream. Another example was learning about typical Spring activities such as planting seeds and what conditions it takes to make them grow and what Earth Day is all about. In addition to these activities during the regular meetings there are also outings to   Baseball games, Night Fishing, A Night at the Movies, and family picnics complete with kids vs. adult games.

The Junior JC's are also very active with the RIJC chapter projects. They have participated in the Community-wide Spaghetti Dinners and Pancake Breakfasts, Easter Egg Hunts, Soap Box Derbies, Thanksgiving Food Basket deliveries, Cookies for Rookies, and Senior Residents Christmas Parties just to name a few.

JAY-Teen Creed
We Believe:
That work done for the benefit of others is its own reward
That responsibility is the first step in becoming an adult
That belonging to a community is a privilege and not a right
That Earth's great treasure lies in human personality
And that service to humanity is the best work of life
