Jaycees is short for (United States) Junior Chamber of Commerce. Jaycees are a community service & leadership group for young adults ages 18 - 40. The entire Jaycee organization consists of volunteers, although a paid staffer can assist a chapter or Foundation. The Jaycees promote community involvement and personal development through various events that range from simple happy hours to weekend outings to high-profile charity fundraisers. Whether you want to build your career, touch lives in your own community, or just meet new people, the Jaycees will help you change your world.
Who can be a Jaycee?Anyone 18 to 40 years of age may become a member of the Jaycees. Of course, there are other Membership Categories as: Associate, Sustaining, Life, Alumni and a member of the JAYCEE Education & Library Foundation. Back to TopWhat if I'm over 40?We actively encourage participation by anyone 41 years of age. You may pay dues and attend events as an 'Associate' or 'Sustaining' Jaycee. These individuals do not have voting privileges and cannot run for elected Board of Directors positions, but may act in non-voting advisory and support roles such as Legal Counsel, Chaplain, Newsletter Editor. Community service events include Senator Roch Riverwalk, the award winning JAYCEE Corridor & Arboretum, Ecology Day Weekend, Holiday Change Charity Drive and more. Members are also encouraged to organize and manage events as a chairperson. As with any organization, you get out of the Jaycees what you put into it.
